Pollinators and Edibles, Fair Oaks

Project Details and Clients Desires: Addition of as many edibles and fruit trees as possible, encourage wildlife and pollinators into the space and weave it into the existing landscape. The client didn’t have a sun-soaked area in the back yard for an edible garden leading us to develop a space for this in the front yard. We recommended Redwood raised beds with a Shou Sugi Ban Japanese wood burning technique for lasting preservation and character.

The installation of Rhizome root barrier at the property line to prevent neighboring redwood roots from infiltrating the vegetable beds and planter spaces. The weaving of existing evergreen and ornamental plants into their new space to provide support and structure to the wilder edibles, fruit trees, natives and pollinators throughout the space. As well as a sit-spot in the center for taking it all in.
