I bring my attentive designer/regenerative/sustainable/native/ecologist eye to each project. I also meet the client where they are in their journey of ecology. Sometimes this looks like adding native or pollinator friendly plants, including edibles for all living things, expanding on an existing ecosystem, eliminating a water thirsty lawn, creating space to enjoy the natural world, meditation, or time with loved ones. Harvesting rainwater and/or integrating a grey-water system and sometimes, one, a few, or all the above.
Through my design philosophy, I acknowledge the principle that many living things visit and live in our spaces. It is a joy to stack these elements into a system that supply a client’s desires and needs along with the needs of other living visitors. Both needs can be met in harmony.
A love for gardening and being outdoors evolved as a young child while watching my mother and grandparents. My Aunt saw this in me and sent me a 100 dollar gift for Christmas when I was 12 to put towards my design for our front, side yard. Later that year, my mom helped me install a dry creek that would help disperse water away from the house from a downspout. Perennials, shrubs and annual colors were added along with a split rail fence and a white climbing rose as requested by my mother. It was such a joy and a place of flow that I carry with me today.
